At this year's
Southwest Cattlemen's Classic Golf Tournament 33 teams participated
in the 4-person scramble. The event was hosted by Joplin
Regional Stockyards and was held at Silo Ridge Golf and Country Club
in Bolivar, MO. Proceeds from the event went to Missouri's
Cattlemen Foundation to support the children's fund, scholarships
and the farm safety and education program.
Enthusiasm was not trampled on by
the threat of rain or the cool temperatures. The day was
started off with a lunch and registration with the tee time
beginning at 1 PM. Once, the golfers came in, a prime rib
dinner and awards topped off the day.
The registration fee included
cart, green fees, lunch, snacks, soft drinks and the prime rib
dinner.
Sponsors for the event include Joplin Regional Stockyards, Ed
Pinegar of Pinegar Chevrolet, Farm Talk, FCS Financial, Newbold &
Newbold, Ozarka Farm & Neighbor and Pfizer Animal Health.
Four flights produced some great
competition. The top 3 teams finishing in each flight all
finished within a few strokes of each other. Other contests
such as Longest Drive or Longest Putt produced some winners.
On 4 different holes, a Hole-in-One contest was also offered.
The prize for this contest was a new Chevrolet Avalanche from
Pinegar Chevrolet. No one walked away with that prize.
