One of the three primary
areas in which Missouri's Cattlemen Foundation supports is the
Children's Fund. This fund was established to provide
matching dollars to children with special needs for the purchase
of prosthetic devices, adaptive and assistive equipment or to
make modifications to building or vehicles.
The Children's Fund helps
Missouri families that have children that have physical
challenges lead fuller, happier lives. MCF wants to insure
that these children have the opportunity to live at home and
contribute to their communities despite the physical hindrances.
The Heartland Foundation and MCF partner-up to make this program
possible.
MCF's matching grant
program provides up to $1,500 for assistive or adaptive
equipment or modifications to buildings or vehicles for easier
living.
The Children's Fund was
established in 1993. Since that year, young people in 47
counties have received over $121,000 for necessary equipment.
This equipment includes wheelchair tie-downs, wheelchairs, van
lifts, wheelchair accessible showers, bath lifts, communication
devices, adaptive strollers, adaptive bicycles, wheelchair ramps
and many other items.
